Summer arrived for real today with 90 degree weather and the smell of just cut hay.  Enjoy it all!

Huntington Swamp

If this body of water was near the Cape or on the Rhode Island shore, it would be a marsh.  But it's in Huntington on Route 66 so I guess it's a swamp.  There's no difference except for maybe there will be crows here instead of seagulls and the water shouldn't be salty.  They're both beautiful in their own way and a pleasure to paint.

Maine Mist

An early morning moment on a lake, in Maine, in June.  Sometimes it doesn't get any better.

Storrowtown Door

This may not be familiar to all of us but to one who was raised in a 200 year old house and now lives in a house built 200 plus years ago, this is a comfortable and familiar door handle.  One on a closet or a bedroom.  Well worn and aged.  A reminder of craftsmanship out of necessity; left to remind us.



The Birch Across the Road

Whenever I look out my front door I see this little birch clump viing for space among the great pines and hemlocks surrounding it, but season after season it puts on a colorful show that outshines their height and sturdiness.Goes to show that it isn't always size that matters.

Maine Shore

The waves were powerful and high with green light dancing through them; white spray sailing over the rocks.  Not a great day for swimming but wonderful for painting.  The lobster boats were out collecting from their traps.  Too rough for me out there.
